Bourne from a multi generational love of making alcohol, Falling Crane Distillery is a tribute to those that came before and those that are still to come.
Ryan’s (our head distiller) passion for distilling came from by his two very different but equally inspiring grandfathers.
Lulu wasn’t interested in making his own booze, but man did he love a drink. He was old school class personified. It was nothing but top shelf Whisky for him and the idea of drinking it any way other than neat was sacrilege.
Pepino on the other hand was a southern Italian immigrant who brought with him a passion for traditional hand crafted food and drinks. Everything was homemade or grown in his garden (think a classic setup with veggies and fruit trees in both front and back yards) - pasta, sauce, sausages, salami and of course wine.
Many a school holiday was spent listening to Lulu talk about what made a great scotch (and then secretly drinking the last couple of drops from his fancy whisky glass) or wandering through Peppino’s garden and helping make his annual vintage of Vino.
From one grandfather, Ryan learnt how to appreciate good spirits and from the other he was given the tools and techniques to make them. After years spent refining processes and recipes this passion project is ready to go live.
Our spirits are hand crafted utilising traditional ingredients and modern techniques. We’re not trying so rewrite the rule book, instead we’re focused on making premium full flavour drinks that are really easy drinking.
